China's Ceramic Export Data in 2024

China ranks among the top producers of daily-use ceramics and has upheld a dominant role in the global marketplace for many years. According to China Customs statistics, in 2024, China exported approximately 5.49 million tons of daily-use ceramics, representing an increase of 730,000 tons compared to 2023—a year-on-year growth of 15.4%. However, the total export value reached USD 15.275 billion, reflecting a decline of USD 1.404 billion, or 8.3% lower than the previous year. Among the most exported items, ceramic tableware and kitchenware remained the dominant categories, accounting for nearly 68% of total shipments. China's ceramic products reached over 140 countries and regions in 2024, with the top destinations being:

 

United States – continued as the largest importer, with stable demand for household ceramic tableware.

 

European Union – particularly Germany, France, and the Netherlands, where sustainability and design innovation are key drivers.

 

Southeast Asia – saw rapid growth, especially in countries like Vietnam and Indonesia, due to their booming retail and hospitality sectors.

 

Middle East and Africa – emerging as strong markets with rising demand for durable and affordable ceramic goods.

 

While traditional markets remain strong, exports to Latin America and Eastern Europe are also on the rise, providing new avenues for growth.

 

China's daily-use ceramic exports in 2024 were shaped by several important developments. The gradual recovery of global markets led to improved consumer confidence, which in turn boosted demand for homeware products, including ceramics.

 

Despite ongoing increases in raw material and labor costs, Chinese manufacturers were able to maintain competitive pricing by improving production efficiency and refining supply chain operations. Product innovation also made a noticeable impact—modern designs, advanced glazing techniques, and environmentally friendly manufacturing practices enhanced the appeal of Chinese ceramics in international markets. Logistics conditions became more favorable throughout the year.
